Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19 (NKJV)
In Luke, Christ gives us the authority to TRAMPLE on... Do you hear that? Not just to say get lost, but to trample. To speak to the enemy and have victory underfoot. Satan has to get under our feet.
Many Christians believe that all they have to do is to think in their minds, "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus." Most Christians don't realize that Satan cannot hear your thoughts. Only God can read our minds. It's a critical thing to speak out against the enemy. Our voices need to be heard.
God didn't call us to be sideline Christians. If the going gets tough we say "Woe is me, take this from me Lord." Christians want the easy way out. Well, Christ has another plan, He wants us to learn through our situations and trails. Sometimes we go through trials just to learn the authority that we truly have over the enemy. Here is something else that Christ says about fighting off the enemy:
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7
The word resist means to exert oneself so as to counteract or defeat. That means we have to put some oomph behind it. If someone had accused you of murder and you knew that you didn't kill that person, you would do everything within your power to show your innocence. It's the exact same way with Satan. He has been in the torturing business a long time, so he knows when people are serious. We have to give it our all. Lay down the law with Satan. Stop letting him walk all over you and start taking your rightful place as authority holder in Christ's kingdom!
