Finally, I finished my first scarf yesterday!!!!! I completed all the actual knitting on Monday, sewed in the loose strings on Tuesday, and added the fringes on Wednesday!!!
Voila (!) . . . . .
Measuring in at just over 5 feet long, this took me two weeks to finish while working on it only when I had the time. Here's another look at it folded up . . .
I feel so accomplished!!! I've already started on my next scarf. It's a small one for the daughter of a friend of mine. After that, I'll do a couple more scarves, maybe a pair of socks, and somehow, a brand new throw for my bed. Yup, there's no denying it. I am now a knitter. God help us all!!
I also wanted to make a little announcement that I have another show now lined up on May 1st back here in the Nashville area. It will be at a venue called Richard's Cafe in Whites Creek, TN. It is just a few minutes north of downtown Nashville, and I'll be doing a full hour's set. I've been graciously given the early show at 6 PM for their Friday night dinner crowd. This is my first show at this long-standing venue, and I'm really looking forward to playing there.
This is it for now. More to come (and more knitting to come) SOON!!!!
Good job. It looks store-bought! hehehe
As for the garage, the geniuses who designed the house, made the garage large enough to fit a small car and nothing else. If Danny were to park the white car in there, he would have to install a moon roof to crawl out of, or maybe just sleep in the car til he leaves again. Seriously. It's small.
Things up and coming . . . Very soon, I'll be posting up my own reviews of various pieces that I've been enamored of lately. Here's a list . . . Film: Lars and the Real Girl Music: The Crying Light (Antony and the Johnsons) Book: She's Come Undone (Wally Lamb) Music: Let's Play Havoc (Tony Youngblood) On the Knitting Front, I've finished my little flowers which are now going to be potpouri containers. I start on my first scarf this week!!! Hooray. I think I am definitely ready for this now. On the world wide web, more aggressive promotion for the album starts this week along with promotion for my next show at Revive Coffeehouse. More adjustments will also be made on my website. On youtube, I'll be unveiling the full clip of "Mr. Stranger" from my CD Release show back in November. Facebook is finally gonna get some Roque love. There will be two new editions to my online empire. One will be an EARTH page added to this blog. It will have links and resources for recycling and energy conservation tips. I feel the need to do my part to preserve this amazing planet we all live on. The second addition will be a separate site that will house an archive of all of my featured Artists of the Month. A new featured artist will be profiled in April upon the unveiling of the archive site. Also this week, tomorrow night I will perform two songs during my friend and fellow pianist Thomas Werth's writer's night at the Nashville Palace. This will be my first time performing at this venue, and I'm really looking forward to it. As you can see, I like to stay busy. In the meantime, here's another lovely youtube video for your enjoyment . . . This is one of my all-time favorite pianists. Her name is Nina Simone, and this is a live clip of her singing "If You Knew". [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAv1FDpdnmE&feature=related] Hope you all have a great week. Many more posts in store. -g
"Okay guys, are we sorted out? I've got a few more things I've got to do this evening."
There's nods all-around. We just got our new office set up, and our first fulfillment staff just came in to sign the employment contract.
I pack up my computer and walk out from the glass-doored meeting room into the main room and head to the coat rack. I put on my winter coat, button it, and put on my ushanka Russian-style hat.
Then I remember - good, Tony's here.
