Just because a topic is available on
TED it doesn't mean that Tynan can't
write about his views on it. For example,
I don't think Tynan is an expert on cryonics,
it was still interesting to hear his thoughts
and opinions on the subject and why he is
choosing to participate in this "fringe"
scientific area. Second, your comment
about "mindless sheep" wanting an opinion
on "every topic" makes no sense. I merely
suggested that writing on a few more topics
would be intereresting. Third, if there are
a lot of people out there, like you, who
need to rely a blog as an instruction to
get laid, I guess that Tynan should keep
writing his
his "pick up" columns.

I can appreciate that you've grown up
A lot since you started this blog. It's
Understandable that a guy your age
might want to refrain from felonious
exploration of public university tunnels.
However, your blog has become
unidensional: meeting chicks. This
topic is probably exciting for your 24 year
old readers, but it's mundane for many like
me, nearly 40 and married. Because you
are so well-travelled, technically savvy,
socially observant, and all around
reflective when it comes to your role
on this planet and where we -- the bugs
crawling on it -- fit in, you should explore
some topics on which you are probably
pretty well-qualified to opine. Suggestions:
population growth, poverty, homelessness,
interstellar travel & colonization, intelligence
enhancement. I guess my point is that
I'd like to read more from you other than
trying to pick up chicks and how to
play cards. Just a suggestion. But, after
all, it's your site and you can do
whatever you damn well please!

Gloria: I think a huge percentage of
people do indeed get married because they're
afraid of being alone. It is kind of a
silly human behavior, especially since
many get married and have kids
because "that's just what you do."
That's just breeding. But a lot of people
really do enjoy being married and having
kids, and that's not silly. I just think
highly of Tynan and think that someday
he may have a wife and kids. I think
he'd dig a lot about that life. But if he
never does, that's fine too. I'm
not a "hater.". (overused slang term)
I'm and admirer and student of Tynan.

Tony D: The statement "marriage is for chumps" is quite a quite a generalization.
You'd probably drop your pickup artist
lifestyle if you found a woman who looked
like an SI swimsuit model & had an 8-
figure trust fund and she said "please
marry me!". Seen it happen.
Mike: I think you missed that my post was
tongue-in-cheek and intended to bust
Tynan's balls a bit.
But, to both Tony & Mike, I will say that
marriage is not for everyone.

Tynan, Don't take this the wrong way, but
I think you're getting a bit fucked in the
head, the way many people do after
"coming down" from their 20s and real-
izing that although they're not old, they're
sort of getting old. I think you need to
accept that marriage and kids might be
the only option to bring you fulfillment as you
age. You don't want to end up, in the words of
Pink Floyd, "just another sad old man, all
alone and dying of cancer."

I'm with you. I'm an Educated East Coast Thirtysometing Quasi-Rural Mutant. I live in a very quiet town with a gas station, grocery store, Dunkin Donuts, two banks, public library, pizza joint, liquor store, and a few other retail establishments. I run a business from home and my college and high school friends are scattered across the US and live lives quite different from mine. I don't "hang out with the guys", party, or travel much (did all three when I was younger.) My life is my wife, kids, work, home, yard, and what I read or learn from documentaries. I go a day or two without driving anywhere and close to a week without leaving town. As I write this, I am wearing a 10-year-old pair of Carhartt pants, a flannel shirt that's even older, and a $25 Casio watch. When I go a place like Target, two towns away, I feel like an Amish guy visiting the Big City. (Indeed, I am within three hours of three major cities and have been to neither in several years). But... I love the way it is. I am creating my own world and pretty much deal with who I want when I want. Because of the choices I've made I have more control over all aspects of my life than most crazed materialistic treadmill consumers out there.

Me again... Maybe it's b/c I'm 38 and
remember when "Under Pressure"... er...
I mean "Ice Ice Baby" came out.
