awesome job taking such a difficult subject into placing it into logical steps.
I find myself working on the self sufficiency phase right now, at least that's what it feels like I"m doing.

I've heard it said that when a man of great action is ready, he will naturally turn inward and become meditative. I see this happening for guys like you, Tim Ferriss and others who constantly are taking conscious action.

The nature of the mind is to compare. If is done in a certain way, like you explain, you are turning a natural occurance, that can also go horribly wrong, into a powerful experience for yourself.
I also compare myself to the best. Then I immediately turn the focus where it belongs, on me.
In this way, I am able to learn from and draw inspiration from true masters but always focus on just giving all that I can to whatever I am doing without any concern if I match or exceed anyone. The cool thing is that whenever we give all that we can... we can always give a little bit more :)
Hey man, when you first came out with your gear list in, I think, 2008, I used it as a guide for myself to travel around the world. I still have the deutera pack and like you said, it feels way to big these days.
I also feel like a shift towards functional yet stylish is in order, so just like in 08, I'm hoping to start purchasing a few of the items you mentioned. I love the pants and the shoes, those are real slick.
see you later bro,
Being a California boy, Vegas is like our back yard. I used to go 3-5 times a year.
Reading your article makes me realize that I haven't been there in over 5 years
Vegas to me was drinking, gambling and women.
good stuff man, I'm also a recovering narcissist. It's not my sole intention or anything, I can just feel it happening gradually.
Really exciting to see your upcoming travel schedule. My life requires me to to stay in one place for a short amount of time, and I'm enjoying it... but I always have that travel itch.
And I'm with Cameron, can't wait for your new blog post!
I'm not an avid reader, actually, I'm not much of a reader at all these days. For me personally, reading was more of a hinderance (after a certain point) than a help.
What I mean is that certain books have sparked incredible action in my life, but most of them, I'll say 90% took me away from action.
This is surely an individual choice based on where a person is at this point in his or her life. But I would guess that most could benefit from less reading.
Man, I so wanted to buy that pass and after reading about your adventures, I'm definitely doing it next year.

as best I can, I am every day trying to shatter any identity. I just want to do what is needed in each and every day, hell in each moment. To do this fully, doesn't allow me to identify myself with anything.
surely others will always identify me with something, it is the nature of the mind, always comparing and judging. I try to pay no mind, and just keep doing what is needed.

I enjoy posts like these where you have a "breakthrough" and then you quickly speed in that direction.
I've enjoyed all your posts from the first day I discovered this site back in 2007ish.
I always know when a blog is an instant hit with me because I go back and read through all the archived posts... I did that with your site and have been reading ever since!
