I found an article recently, discussing the various blog platforms, so I thought I would check a few of them out. I like the idea of posthaven, however paying 5.00/month for something with no customization at all seemed unappealing to me. So, checking out Sett.
Well, it could be worse. Some people have to get dressed and leave their house in order to go to jobs they don't like. I get to stay at home. However I still have to have a sitter over to watch the kids and keep them quiet while I sit in my office and harass people at dinner time.
Ok - I don't HARASS them, but it is rare that you get someone who answers the phone to a survey request that DOESN'T sound very harassed, annoyed and disgruntled.
For the most part, our public opinion surveys are not market based - but are quite often based on the desires of a city, or union or other such entity to learn what their residents or members, desire.
In this day and age where everyone is privacy concerned, it's understandable that people are reluctant to give out information. It is also a well known fact that we are a busy busy bunch of people these days and finding a moment (or ten) to sit with a stranger and give answers to multiple choice questions is less than desirable for most people.
However , there is one thing that many people don't realize - you can say "no". You don't have to tell me to f-off. You don't have to yell at me and hang up the phone. Also, if you do just hang up, then the call is coded as such and a call-back occurs, because no one has actually verbally objected.
but can't find founder/tos info etc.
I have been thinking about possibly purchasing a 'hobbyist' membership, but PayPal isn't an option. Will this be changed? Im juggling between Sett, Medium and Ghost - not sure which I'll stick with, but if I am unable to pay via PayPal then I will have to stick to a free account.
Much of InWorldz is experiencing Winter right now.
At first I wanted to write a post about all of the great Winter regions and various snowy themed areas. I quickly realized that I would just be writing for DAYS – there are SO many wonderful places.
So, I limited this writing to encompass the places I came across when looking for things I wanted for Yule and for Winterizing of my regions. There are MANY, many more places than those listed here.
These first few are from a seasonal store in Musing Moments. I came here during the Fall as well and they had a lovely assortment of Autumn items, I thought I would come back to take a gander at their Christmas items. There are a few different creators in this store.
Often just means rain really.
We do get snow, but for the most part it just means rainy gray days. Today we went to Target to try to find some Christmas things for the boys. The boys REALLY want Minecraft stuff, but there was nothing there. Just ONE steve character and that would not have bade well for anyone. The mountains looked lovely today. I really like how even just going to Target/Warlmart/anywheremundane can still be so visually pleasing We DID find a nice little Menorah. I've not seen those in Walmart before, so not sure if they are only in Target or not, but we got one. My dad is Jewish, and I was raised Jewish - but I've never had our own Menorah. So now it's sitting happily in front of my little Pagan Shrine (yes I am sure this is sacreligious to many, but I don't know, it's kind of my 'COEXIST' altar)
Two last pictures, one of hubby and our two youngest:
I really miss the oldest. I wish he could get back here from Japan in time for Christmas. It will be really odd to not have him here. His 4 younger siblings miss him a lot. (especially the 5 and 7 yr old)
So I found Ghost. I really like it. A lot. Enough that I was going to pay the 10/month to host on Ghost.org.
However I don't have a credit card and they don't accept PayPal. Okay so I start looking about.
I go to Ghoster.io.
Get a blog (and Ill add that you really have to rethink the way you 'join' things. the process with ghost is different) it didn't work. Tried uploading a theme. Nope. Nothing works, there's no proper admin panel thing like in Ghost.io or even in my self hosted (that no longer works)
There isn't even contact info for ghoster.io! So I can't contact anyone and say 'hey WTF'
The last I had read, Sett was shutting down, or I thought. But I realized that some of the blog updates im getting via email are from Sett and not from Ghost as I had thought. I have looked all through the settings and such to find info, TOS or anything and can't find any other info did Tynan decided to keep things alive? Really it's a nice place, and more customizable than medium. Glad to see he didnt give up (if that is indeed the case)
***Update*** on Twitter today, I asked Tynan if Sett was staying around and he said yes, but that new accounts are paid accounts to cut down on support. I'm glad to hear that becuase it really is a fantastic platform. So if you create an account, you are able to post comments etc on blogs, but can only create a blog if you become a Patron. In your account you will see an option to support the writers, and can choose 5, 12, 19 and 99 -- the price options give various abilities with the accounts. http://sett.com/bloggers
I myself don't have enough amazing info to warrant needing a lot of followers etc but its good to know that this option is there for those who need it.
So. October 7th of this year, my life changed.
A police officer and some woman accompanying him came to my door about dinner time. They confirmed my name.
They confirmed that I had a daughter… had.
The police officer then went on to tell me : “I’m sorry to inform you but your daughter passed away this afternoon”
This was the Friday of the Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. I was told that being a long weekend the coroner probably wouldn’t call until Tuesday so just ‘spend time with family now, because not much can be done until Tuesday’.
Just popping in with a hello!
