Pardon the dust while I dust out the cobwebs 'up there', haven't blogged in forever, I'm sure everything looks like a mess.
I was having some serious lower-back pain problems about two weeks ago, I was given this pain level sheet from some doctor in Louisiana and came to the conclusion that whereas I had thought that I was a 6.5/10, I was actually an 8/10, which is physically debilitating and I couldn't take my mind off the pain for more than 30 minutes at a time. I called it 'pain that I would wish upon my worst enemy', it wasn't bad enough that I wouldn't want someone I seriously had a reason to hate to feel something similar. My dad happens to be a physician, luckily he gave me a shot that didn't completely take away the pain but at least numbed it enough so that I could walk and sort of take my mind off of it. He did some Xrays and we found out that I have spina bifida, something that occurs in 10-15% of the healthy population but that most people aren't even aware of, and his conclusion was that I must have developed some sort of polynomial cyst down there and that's what had been bothering me this whole time. I guess I should have mentioned that I've been having these lower back pain issues since last September but it's never seriously been an issue for me until I couldn't sleep. Anywho, he put me on an antibiotic regimen that I've been on for a few weeks and I feel like a whole 'nother person now, almost as if it's gone away completely, so yes I'm much better now.
Since I'm on my ass a good portion of the day I figured I have to change what I can change in order to minimize my exposure to more pain and suffering, lower back exercises were advised but I figured I might as well get my whole body in shape since I've seriously put on some 20-odd lbs or something these past few months, which I'm certain is a contributing factor. I've been running a few miles about every other day mostly, using the random gym equipment available to me in my apartment complex, walking the bike trail, but I was redditing the other day and decided to see if such a thing as /r/posture exists, and it does! I started reading through the top-rated posts of all time, there were a lot of posts about how great Yoga is. I'm still not entirely convinced that yoga isn't some sort of sweaty masochistic religion or a cult or something like that, but I went to my first 'hot yoga basics' class and I actually had a lot of fun! It was pretty frustrating to find out that my balance is so poor, but looking through some of the top-rated posts on /r/yoga, I'm inspired to add this as a regular part of my fitness routine.
I just woke up from a crazy dream, I had just gotten coffee from a Starbucks barista or someone similar and they were curious how I would go through a coin drawer in order to pick out the silver. I have a method for picking out coin rarities that I am constantly updating as I learn more about these older dated coins, I'll detail it in another post.
