I will admit that a guilty pleasure of mine is reading about celebrities' personal lives, not so much to learn who they date or any gossip but more to learn about them and learn of their beliefs. I don't really know why I like that but that's beside the point.
I was reading about Kate Upton and she said that she believed in God. That made me happy. Then I kept reading. She said she usually wore, I believe, a necklace with a cross on it and that that made her feel safe or close to God or something along the lines. However, she said that during photo shoots she was required to take it off, and that made her feel like she lacked something or unsafe and so she decided to get a cross tattooed on her hand or a finger to have it with her "at all times".
It's not bad to want a reminder of God but to put your faith on an item is not really something God wants. He said that we should have no other gods/idols before Him (Leviticus 19:4). This is something that struck me because just because you don't have an item with you doesn't mean God isn't with you. He's still there, and the faith you have you're putting on an item that is supposed to remind you of God, not become your idol.
