"In Surprisingly Bold Move, Sweden Offers a Home to All Syrian Refugees"

On Indigo Girls Gone Wild

from Policymic: The Swedish government announced on September 3 that it would be granting permanent residency to any Syrian refugee seeking asylum that's already fled to Sweden. Although Sweden's new policy is being hailed by humanitarian and immigrations groups, other countries have been stepping up as well. According to DW, Austria has accepted 200 refugees and Germany has committed to welcome 5,000 displaced Syrians.

At the end of the day, let us kura skymning

On Secretvoice

When we have more options than we can fathom, keeping in touch with friends on the other side of the Earth can be done in a second. When we can make a career in almost any country or study either from home or in the school we desire most or watch TV or movies anywhere - is there any room for keeping in touch with you?

For those of you familiar with mindfulness, let me tell you about the Swedish "kura skymning". Up until about threehundred years ago, Sweden was a rural society. Most of the things that happened, happened on a farm and it is from this time kura skymning comes.

Kura skymning means litterally idle at sunset. This was the time of day when all work was done and the time for idling in the sunset came. Imagine a farmer sitting on a bench or log by the house, watching the sunset, digesting the day, breathing or letting his breath be taken away by the pink and orange sunset.

Why not make this your own kura skymning day and sit down, focus on how your breath feels when air streams into your body and then goes out again when you exhale. Notice any tensions in your body and let them be there, breath into them if you will.

What did you do well today and what could you have done better?
